2007 GMT900 News: REVEALED!!!

Quote:
Chevrolet's new Tahoe is due as a 2007 model, but thanks to quick eyes - and cameras - TCC has it here.

Not much is known about the major overall features of the GMT800 SUVs (which, with the revamped models, will be known as the GMT900 platform), but we are expecting a hybrid version to be eventually added to the lineup.

Watch for the new Tahoe to go on sale in the fall of 2006.

Looks like GM is pulling another Uplander/Montana SV6/other GM vans, Grand Prix/Lacrosse/Impala/Monte Carlo style update here and not releasing a totally new vehicle. I really hope the interior is up to par with ford's SUVs and not like the current generation. The exterior looks a little more angular which I like, I'll have to wait for some more pics 'till I make the final judgement.

Looks nice. It's different to see that chrome bar not stretch all the way across the entire front end, yet just the grill. I like it though.

It has needed an update for awhile......since it IS such a cash cow...you'd think they'd put a bunch of money into it...considering plenty of cars will be based on it.....there will be a new Sequoia coming soon Im sure so it needs to be able to take it on.
Hope the "revolution" hits this car too.

I forgot to mention that it'll have that computerized technology that shuts down 4 of the 8 cylinders under normal low RPM driving, similar to the 300C and some other cars...expect 15- 20 MPG

GM should release the hybrid model should when the vehicle has been introduced to the market. That is not the case. The hybrid model is going to be a late release. Like 1 year after intro. Not a good idea.

for real, hybrid models should be released just like any other option.
granted theres alot more testing to do on them still before hybrid releases are like any other model release, it should still be released atleast 3 - 4 months of each other.

current hybrids like the ford escape arent all that efficient...once the electronics and batteries are added, and loaded with a couple passengers, they dont have that much better gas mileage. My buddy has an Escape, and gets like... 2-3 mpg better than a completely gas engine- i dont know if that compensates for the added cost of the hybrid...
Industry needs to use less oil first, then automotive will follow...
^^sorry if thats off topic...actually...its completely off topic, sowwie^^

Then Ford needs to go back to the drawing board. Toyota has the best Hybrid system on the market right now.

I wouldn't say it's the best, just the most widely accepted. The Accord hybrid is much more my style- use the technology not just for added economy, but also as a performance boost. Putting hybrid technology in a car and then adding a weak engine is boring. The new Lexus RX 400H is the same thinking as the Accord. The only way I'd consider a hybrid is if it's better performing all around than the usual model, not just better fuel economy.

Well, that's a certain 'flavor' so to speak for hybrids. Hybrids geared for economy and hybrids geared for performance. I think first building hybrids that focus on saving fuel was a smart decision by both Toyota and Honda. They realized that gas prices would go up in time and consumers may want to have something that doesn't hurt their pockets. Doing this has allowed them to tweak the technology so that it can add more performance to the vehicle while at the same time, save fuel.

Looks like Chevy has made a better looking Honda Ridgeline. They need to lose the gray plastic flying buttresses.

Yeah that looks great so far. I think it would be good if they beefed up the suspension in their trucks. The silverado even gets dwarfed by an F-150 because it doesn't sit up very high.

However, Honda stole their design from the Avalanche in the first place, so its really more of a "making their current design better" thing.

I think it looks better than the current generation. Glad to see they cleaned up all those God-awful bulges, bumps, and goofy lines.

I can't really say whether I like it or not because I don't wanna make judgement on that pic because its not so great. Yea and I was reading the paper a few weeks ago and it says in 06 Chevy will be coming out with a hybrid pickup truck I can't remember the name but its a truck thats already in its line up.

Edit: 06 Sierrra,but i thought I saw a story showing an 06 Chevy truck.

I hope it doesn't have those gay chrome inserts outlining the grill. They put those on the new silverado HD's and it RUINED their looks in my opinion. From the looks of the second pic, it looks like they're there too Oh well, nothing that can't be taken off.

The 2nd pic of the radios is absolutely horrible, a huge black wall of plastic reminds you that you didn't get the navi system, just like in the CTS and SRX. The knobs are extremely tiny looking as well. Such a disappointment as GM usually has some of the better radio designs.

well unless their planning a hostile takeover that kinda looks more like a ford avalanche to me cuz i can clearly see where the blue oval would fit right in that grill and the back end yah looks like a ford and the front end too (referring to the second pics then the other ones with the tarp all over the vehicle yeah not a really good set of pics right there

I can't say that i'm wowed by either vehicle. The front end of the Tahoe looks good, but the rear is blah. The Escalade looks nice, but it doesn't give me the same impression that the current gen did when it first came out. Maybe when I see better pics of it, my stance will change.

Trucks, yeah right. GM should have spent money on a better performing G6 and a better-looking Monte Carlo.

Trucks are what's keeping GM alive.

I like the front of the Tahoe alot, the rear isn't so great though. I need to see more pics and more colors before I make up my mind.

Looks like the Tahoe will offer a rear mounted camera to see whats behind when backing up, way to finally get with the competition! Front end looks pretty good, but as Vint said the rear is uninspiring. The Escalade looks just like the Tahoe but with some plasti-chrome stick-ons. Does the rear of a 4-Runner look like a GX 470? Does a MDX resemble a Pilot? No, spend some cash and change more than the fascias and emblems.

Yeah, i'm quite surprised and disappointed to see GM didn't do much to differentiate the GMT-900s. It's like the Expedition and Navigator. Or the Toyota Land Cruiser and LX470. I hope Toyota doesn't take this approach again with the next gen. LX. But from my understanding, the Land Cruiser is being dropped so that wouldn't be an issue.

2007 is going to be a big year. Lexus will have the next gen LX, Toyota with the redesigned Sequoia and Tundra, Chrysler is suppose to have their first large SUV, Expedition and Navigator will be redesigned, and of course the GMT-900s.
