aftermarket for STi = expensive tom, seriously, its pretty crazy. 1175 for turbo-back, 300 for CAI, really expensive stuff

AND ALL OF YOU SHUT THE **** UP IF YOU'VE NEVER DRIVEN EITHER OF THE CARS!!

(yes, ive put both through their paces, not like C&D though, trust me)

^Cat back for an LS2 is the same if not more $$ than that of the STi.

Now are you serious about the STI being much better on fuel?
These are the numbers of comparison from autotrader.com

STi = 18/24

GTO = 16/21

Makes more sense and goes with the tax...

Those figures are for the Automatic, hence the GG tax. The 17/25 is for the 6-speed manual, so it does not get the gas guzzler tax. It gets around it by forcing a 1-4 skip shift under certain conditions to boost the fuel economy. It can also be easily disabled with a $.50 resistor of a $16 part from PFYC.

FWIW, driving my GTO as spirited as I drove the GAGT, I only get about 2mpg less on average for the first 900 miles of driving. Fuel economy will increase with time as well.

Highway mileage is comparable to the GAGT was well with spirited driving...

Driven both, I would take the STi hands down. The GTO is a nice vehicle, but the STi definately out performs it all around, and would be plenty of fun to toy with under the hood. AWD > RWD > FWD.

there are MORE possibilities to beef up an engine that comes turbocharged, you can bump the stock psi, god im avoiding this one cause that was a stupid point you made...

THE STIS ENGINE IS NOT EVEN CLOSE to being anywhere near its full potential...

and GOOD FCKING luck driving the gto in the snow over the sti... and dually noted, who puts summer tires on an sti?

mr eh....do you even know what your talking about???

1-you say that that engine has so much more potential, thats why its so much better??? we're talking about a 6L corvette engine here, that doesn't even have forced induction. the 5.7's can make a reliable, everyday 550hp quite easily with forced induction. 6L arn't even a year old, forced induction is very near to completion for the gto's, already out for corvettes. 550hp will be easy to get with these. because of gm's drive by wire, the gto has MASSIVE torque managment., even the manuals. it isn't even putting down its full power in 1st or 2nd gear. by removing that, they took over .5 seconds off the 1/4 time of a 05 corvette.

2- 05 GTO's have ran high 12's stock too, check out ls1gto.com. they run low 13's on average.

3 - the only reason that cracker box keeps up in the 1/4 is the awd launch that they drop the clutch at a crazy rpm, rape the drive train but pull off a low 13. how long do you think that drivetrain will last droping it at 5k??? SNAP. real races dont always start from a stop. start at 20-30-40 anything, the gto will mutilate the sti. on a highway? sti stands no chance

4- sti isn't better hands down in every category, thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard. the STI handles better because it has rock hard suspension, thats why its uncomftable as hell to drive for a distance. the gto is more of a touring car, it rides like a sporty cadillac. it wasn't meant to handle that well, because if they made it handle better they would loose comfort. if you take a look at the interiors of the two, you'll see the GTO is obviously going for more of a luxury feel.

so youve got a big, luxurious FAST ASS coupe....sounds perfect to me, vs a quirky rough riding ugly car that reminds me of a old corolla, it looks like a 93.

want better traction on the gto? 275's do fit on the back stock rims. want better handling? get koni shocks and upgrade the sway bars. you'll keep about 90% of the comfort and get much much less body roll. want more aggressive styling??? GM does make a sport apperance package, or there's always aftermarket. GTO is the basis for my perfect car. i think it needs to be custimized a little to be my perfect car, but the base is there, somthing i cant say for the sti.

i could care less how the GTO handles in snow, i want a car i can only drive 8 months of the year, that way all winter i cant wait to take the car back out of storage, because like most people, i get bored if i drive a car everyday.

so what your saying is, all the things it lacks vs the sti is because its a luxury car? and that you can modify the suspension?.................

give it up, stock vs stock sti > gto in everything except "comfort" apparently....

"sti is better because excuse"
"sti is better because excuse"

why is it so hard to admit that the sti is better then the gto for everything?

then you insult the looks of the car? gto's are too plain looking

gto's are sleek, take a look at a 05 in person, 04's were plain. "sti is better becasue excuse" your either twisting my words, or really are a idiot. one has more comfort, one has more handling. its a TRADE OFF. yes, the gto is much more of a luxury car. lets hear your excuse why the gto uses so much higher quality parts on the interior?

ok, interior GTO > STI, if you dont agree, i dont value your opinion becasue its no contest

1/4 mile performance GTO=STI only if you rape the **** out of the STI

races from a role GTO > STI

handling GTO < STI

comfort GTO >STI

long term reliability of complete drivetrain GTO > STI

Looks are opinionated, id never drive a STI and think the gto is one of the sleekest cars on the market, the 04's were plain. the 05's look much better in person

looks like to me 4 wins for gto, 1 tie and 1 loss......hmmmm

GTO with sport appearance package and optional 18's (nothing aftermarket)

test fit of aftermarket rksport gfx package

optional blue leather.....

bone stock 04 with no spoiler

cause we all know interior and comfort is what makes a car the "king of the road"

The STI is so much better....why cant people just admit this?
The GTO is a nice car...i mean its a million times better than the grand am but its not better than the STI. I'm 100% with Mr.Eh on this one.....no contest.
An what are you talking about STI doesnt have comfort?...i Guess Recaro just doesnt know how to make seats.
Last thing....any car can handle better when after market parts are put on.
That being said i wouldnt turn down a GTO if i had the chance to drive one...thats for sure.

and just for added measure

I couldnt find any pics of the red interior which i think is pretty sweet so if anybody can post pics of that, that would be a better comparison

Interior wise they are both good. Exterior, the GTO wins IMO.
