Just for a real life review of these tires.... Great in everthing but tread life. I dont peel out or drag race but When I rotated them the front are pretty low. I've inly had them for about 11 months and probably less than 10000 miles. As far as high speed and traction go... great tire, the grand am can corner a little better after these things.

Comments: The 225's were fairly decent. The wear on these tires, for lack of a better word, SUCK. The tire wear rating is 280 which seems to be the average for most tires. The 225/45/17's traction were pretty good, but not good enough, so I bought me 245/45/17s.

The 245's rocked for traction, could take turns at 40mph, no problem if I wanted (tried not to cuz tires wear fast). Could still spin tires if I wanted also. The tires are stiff, has nice sidewall belts to assist in that, traction pretty good....never lost traction. Even in the rain on almost bald tires, traction still good. Wouldn't recommend it though. Each set only lasted me about a year to year and half. Cheap priced tire also. Road noise noticeable, but not too bad (i turn up the volume to my music).

On the downsize to getting bigger tires and from going from 15" rim to 17", gas mileage dropped quite a bit. With 225's on 17's my gas mileage went from 300+ mpt (miles per tank) to about 260/270. 245's went from 260/270 to between 220-240 mpt.....depending on freeway and/or regular road use. If anyone has info on adjusting the computer for that, please let me know.

Comments: I've put about 600 miles on these tires so far. From Tirerack.com, got these to my door for $520 (tires, shipping, road hazard thing). All the tire shops round here wanted $700 just for tires, not even including mount & balance.

Anyway, so far these tires ride good. Seem to ride smoother than the Ecsta 712's above. I originally wanted to get Yokohama AVS ES100's cuz tread looks awesome, but their tire wear was low and I wanted a tire that would last. This new set of Kumhos has a tire wear rating of 420, so they should last longer as long as I don't take high speed turns and try to spin the tires.

And actually, these tires grip so well, it's hard to spin the tires. As of yet they don't seem to ride as stiff as the 712's and seems a little "floaty" (as they say), but that should get better as I put more miles on them. Replacing my suspension should also help, which I will be doing in the near future.

Traction is REAL good. Was flying down the highway at 100 the other day with some dude trying to race. Bad example, I know, but I had to try out my new tires. I actually drive like a grandpa now. I take turns at 10mph now, cuz if peel the shoulders on my tires I'll probably cry. $520 plus lifetime mount and balance plan ($260) at local tire shop is a lot to spend on just tires.

Anyway, good tire so far. Traction good, can't tell about wear yet. Rides good, road noise not very noticeable (less than 712s). Low priced $105 a tire i think. Oh and that little episode on the highway, I actually got about 270 miles to that tank. That's highway use though. I usually get 230.

about 10k miles on these tires so far....tire tread wear is pretty good considering I've been abusing them. The tires are kind of floaty, which I do not like. It could be the suspension, which I need to replace. I give the tires a 8 out of 10 now.

I have over 15k on my set of Ecsta ASXs, and the treadwear has been great. They still grip pretty good and they are still quiet. The wet traction is still pretty good as well. I got mine for $85 each at America's Tire Company. I am going to buy a set for my GF's car as well.

I have not had the 'floatly' problem that you are describing. I think you are right that it is your suspension causing that feeling.

hey peeps.

ok the time has come for me to replace all 4 of these crappy (IMO) Goodyear Eagles on my 2000 GrandAm GT.

I see alot of tires here.. but not alot of pricing etc.
My local dealer recommened the Bridgestone Potenza tire.

Asked them for a quote and they are saying about $900 CAD installed.
Yup..I'm also in Canada and have to deal with snow about 4 months of the year or more. So I need All Seasons.

Is $900CAD a good price for all 4 installed?? or should I do some shopping around??
I know the Eagles are way more expensive than this.. but after going thru 6 tires in just over 100,000KM.. i'm not very happy with the wear.

These have awesome dry traction, wet traction is something to be desired, but is okay. These are a summer only tire and should not be tried in the snow. I have had them on the car for ~ 3000 miles and took them off before the snow. I have been very happy with these tires, they have little road noise (read: less road noise then my Potenza RE 950s) and exellent cornering. These are a 200 tread wear tire, don't expect them to last much longer then 20,000 on hard driving conditions and more then 36,000miles on normal driving conditions! Price from discount tire was $114/tire with free shipping. Not bad for something that I am going to abuse and shred with burnouts!

Comments: When dry they are great, and even in the rain the perform pretty well, not the best tire i've ever had but in the summer time these tires perform great, no complaints except for a little squealing around hard cornering, very quiet on the road too. although they do wear pretty quickly, just make sure to rotate them every 3000-4000 miles.

In a light snow they are okay, but in a heavy snow, none of these are any good, so find a good snow tire and go for it.

Comments: Had a pair of these on my Sunfire. Dry Traction was Awesome, I couldn't make them squeal on corners no matter how hard I tried. Was like riding on glue. Wet traction was better than most, but once the tread starts to wear out (like when your riding on 3/32) Get new ones. Once past about 4 or so 32ed's wet traction sucks.

I got a great deal on these already inexpensive tires. I paid $325 at Indy Tire (Best One in other states) including installation and road hazard. Great tires at a great price!

Time for new tires.

I put almost 60,000 miles on one and a half sets (bought in pairs) of Sumitomo HTR+. Overall, these weren't bad tires with plenty of steering feedback and more than adequate grip in the wet and dry and passable grip in snow and ice. The downside was that as they aged they started to get noisy; at low speeds they sound like off-road tires.

I got a set of Kuhmo Ecsta ASX in the stock 225/50x16 size, W rated. So far I've only put about a hundred miles on these tires, but they grip dry pavement well and are very quiet. Time will tell if they hold up as well as the Sumitomo's.

i am at 68000kms on my Goodyear tripletreads and they still have 5/32 left on them...should last me til September before I get a new set before winter....these r definitely the best tires i have ever had. Unbelievable in snow,ice, slush, rain....u name it.
