no idea what your laws are. i dont expect it would fail you, it is a reflector and with an amber bulb behind it, it will reflect amber when you put the signal on. but like i said, i dont know PA laws, so i couldnt tell you for sure. maybe google for state inspection laws online and see what you can dig up on requirements and such.

looks to be, search again.

edit: we should get a thread going with a list state by state what the requirements are, or atleast where the differences are to shorten the list. make it an easy resource for people prepping for inspections.

You don't know how mad I was when I failed inspection because of the vinyl overlays with the arrowhead cut outs... and that the rockblocker.com tint didnt pass either. One thing you gotta remember about these lights, they're exact molds from the stock ones, meaning that the DOT branding on them is for the Stock ones.... I highly doubt this guy went through the hassle of getting them DOT approved.

Hey! that's one way to get these for cheaper, blackmail him saying we're gonna send the DOT after him for selling merch that isnt DOT approved! I'm only kidding, please, no one do that.

It's not like those home made clear headlights though, it still reflects light. I'm pretty sure you'd be ok. Depends on where you take it though. My dealer loved my tails the first time I brought the car in with them, then the last time warned me it won't pass inspection. Which is bull b/c the reflector shines though perfectly when light is shined on it, which is how it's supposed to work, who cares if you can't see it.

But, like I posted, the law states that it has to reflect amber.... what if you put amber reflective tape over it for inspection?

I was at Davis Pontiac in Richboro for inspection. The actual guy from the state was there that day, which was why I was failed. Otherwise they were going to pass me, they loved the headlights + tails too.

Yeah, but I think that b/c the lights themselves say DOT approved (whether it's just molder or not) you can get through a loop hole. They tried to tell me Silverstars were illegal lights, I showed them the package where it says '100% Street Legal' and they shut right up. Worth a shot at least.

I think if someone is really out to fail you, they'll go as far as matching up the DOT approval numbers and saying that the numbers don't match to the actual product. But, like I said, if someone is really out to get you to fail.

I dunno, I kinda like PA... I do wanna move to upstate PA where there's no emissions though. And I'm sorry, after two out of three trips to Boston, I can't stand CT. Too much construction and more idiot drivers than in NJ. The last time I went to Boston I bypassed CT altogether.

If you're really concerned about having amber reflectors just slap a couple aftermarket reflectors on the side. They are legal and work well. And if you really want to go all out and are willing to punch holes in your panel, you can get some that light up. It's a unique look for a 5th gen Grand Am.

Well, there's nothing that can bring that price down. No competition, so they can pretty much charge what they want for it, and people will buy it, because if you want different headlights, you don't really have options.

I think I'm more concerned that this guy making a new product is using an DOT number from another product, which may make him be shut down.

That's what bothers me more. I can deal with the price of the lights, to me it's somewhat fair. But after working in a warehouse shipping department for the last 6 years and dealing with all the major shipping carriers I know that it doesn't cost that much to ship a package roughly that size. Even cross country.

They're easily making $15 profit just on the shipping on orders coming as far as the East Coast, and $25-30 on local orders.

It cost me $60 to ship four rims from Miami to NY. It was $60 for rims and tires from NJ.

If the shipping is too high for you, move on. Some people use it like a minimum bid.
