from what i know, the check marks are more specific towards defensive backs not teams in general

mehh...close enough 4 for 94 the first game, but 1 big one for 50 yards, i guess that was enough for him

^^ yes yes great point.the nfl sucks so bad because of people like me who want people to just get over themselves and play the game. and you can trash talk the other team all you want. just keep it on the feild. i did play football while in h.s. we went undeafted my freshman year. i found it was better to walk softly and carry a big stick, then to run my mouth and and the words shoved up my a*s.

again i am not saying he is a bad reciever. he isnt. but i think he could be even better if he would jus shut his mouth.

how? all that would do is draw less attention to the team anyway....

I personally like it...its entertainment above all

it draws more attention to himself. not the team. which is exactly what he wants. it not enough that everyone in cincy loves him, he makes millions, and he gets to do what he loves for a living. he now has to draw more attention to himself and be a jackass. let me ask you this. did you think it was funny when t.o claimed the dallas star a few years back? or did you think what an a*s hole?

what it was was disrespectful! to the cowboys, there fans, owners, and the nfl. theres nothing funny about a guy who really does believe that he is invincible and above everybody else. had he of done that in chicago i think the fans would have rushed the field and kicked the crap out of him. what happened to morals? these are people that, like it or not, our children look up to. one guy making stupid remarks does not represent the whole nfl. but because the media loves it you see it more and more. and last i checked football was a team sport. not one wr going out there to make plays every game.

sports is sup post to be entertaining but at what line does it go from entertaining to just flat out selfishness. now if he were doing something like clinton portis is doing that would be alot better. has anyone asked chad why the hell the bengles couldnt put up 40+ points on a less then average team? or why he only had 2 catches?

look heres all that i am saying. athletes in general should do there talking on the field. they should set a good example, and act like professionals not children. if you dont like how boring players are off the field then dont listen to what they have to say. there not getting paid to make you laugh, there getting paid for winning football games.

True, but look at teams like Philly without D.Mac/TO/Westbrook....with thoes 3 you think they'd be out of Playoff potential?
or the skins when they played Tampa, no Sean Taylor/Sean Springs = Galloway going long on them all day, would it have been the same had they been in there?
Team sport yes, but then there are SuperStars, and that's why they get paid the big bucks.

he isnt really selfish, he likes attention, he is a star.
he DOES NOT demand the ball
he DOES NOT whine if he doesnt get thrown to
he DOES NOT criticize his team or decisions
and whats wrong with him making people laugh, i was unaware fun and humor were outlawed in sports and were such a terrible thing
as far as i am concerned he is a team player, he loves playing for his team and contributes immensely

he simply knows he is good and has fun with it. i think you are over-reacting and cant really see the truth here

and as far as owens and the star thing, its the same with randy moss and the fake mooning, its only a big deal because people made it out to be one, sure if i was dallas fans i would have been ****ed, but at the same time its a frickin football logo... life goes on. call someone an ass.hole and get over it is the best way to handle it

edit... i cant say p.issed off? that sucks

ok here we go again.

football is a team sport. sure if you take away a teams "superstars" and every team has them they will not be as good. for example the eagles. they made it to the nfc championship what 3 years in a row without t.o? they were a good team without him. now when you add him it would be dumb not to try to form a "o" around him. which is what philly did. now its backfiring. and its not there fault. if t.o wasnt an a*shole they probably would be doing better right now. but no, who cares about the team when i can be a baby. and superstar or not if your in the nfl chances are that by our standards, you make the big bucks.

i do think he is selfish. not by what he says but by what he does, and how he conducts himself on the field, and off. i wonder if he knows that by saying crap like that he will hurt his team more then help it. and fun is part of the game. again i have no problem with dancing or spiking the ball, but calling the nfl and asking if you can do something and they say no and you go ahead and do it anyways, what kind of a man does that? thats what i have a problem with. he might love the game and his team and all that, but come on. you dont need to be an a*s when your team is finally good.

back to the dallas star thing. come on man. you have got to be kidding me. its the principal of the thing. he is an a*shole but you just cant write a slap in the face like that off so easily.

ok i think i am done talking about how players think there bigger than the game. lets talk matchups.
T.B @ N.E
KC@ NYG
ATL @ CHI

i think these are the hardest games to call so who do we like?
i like:
NE: if it wasnt cold i would take the bucs. but weather has to be a factor.
KC: a must win game for KC. i think there "o" will just simply outscore the giants.
CHI: got to go with my boys in this one. i know thats what i said last week. but i think the "d" will show up in the last home game of the season. they had better. weather also has something to do with this pick. night in chicago in december. BURR!

also did everyone vote on the probowl?

i'll take NE over tampa, 30 degrees, saturday game, pats clinch with a win. a lot of people back healthy (still depleted at DB tho). gotta go with my boys, if they dont win this week i guess i can deal with it.

oh and they havent lost a game i've been to at the new stadium yet *knock on wood*

i will also take atlanta over chicago, ESPECIALLY if vick doesn't play, but he will. id only take atlanta over chicago with the spread, even id say chicago pulls it off but just barely

id take KC too
i'll also take miami over the jets (who wouldn't?)
also... (i'll pick em all)
houston
saints
chargers
jags
rams
seahawks
vikings
bengals
browns
cowboys
ravens
broncos

I am one of those sports guys. I write for a newspaper, and I can agree with you there. It's not the generic crap that is interesting, it's the off-the-wall stuff that makes for good reading.

Also, let's not put T.O. and Chad Johnson anywhere near the same category. T.O. is flat out a whiny, money-grubbing a**hole. He's disrepectful to his (former) coach, other players, and fans. The move in Dallas with the Cowboys' star was an outrage and he should have been castrated for it. It's the things he says and the things he does that make him a jackass. Same goes with Randy Moss. The mooning thing was uncalled for. If those two players would shut the **** up and play like they can, they'd be Canton material.

Now, Chad Johnson and Clinton Portis are different. They don't trash talk other players or coaches. They simply do the things they do to boost morale and keep a comedic feel to the teams. Of course they draw the attention of sportswriters and the public by doing this, but they also get the attention of their teammates. If Chad Johnson guarantees a win or 40+ points or so many TD's in a game and doesn't do it, then he looks like a jackass. But when it does happen, then it looks good. I think his after-touchdown antics are a good thing as long as he's not disrespecting the other team or players. It's quite simply all in good fun.

Ok, here's my picks. I'm going with all the home teams in those three matchups. NE will beat TB because NE is the better cold-weather team and they are at home. The Giants will take out KC because although the Giants are leading their division, they are still fighting for the playoffs. KC doesn't have the team to beat them IMO, too. Lastly, the Bears will bounce off of last week's loss to beat the Falcons in Chicago. After the Steelers beat the Vikings, the Bears will have a two-game lead in their division again.
