Sony's car audio is garbage for the money...the infinity 12" subs cost the same as the crappy sony's....every thinks just cuz sony is good for home electronics, they're gonna be the best for car audio...they sell the garbage at Wal Mart nuff said...if you're looking into sony for car audio, pm me and I'll find u a much better sounding system for the same amount of money...their headunits are crap, their subs are crap, and their amps, I won't even go there.

I havn't heard any new setups recently, aside from my trip to CC, but my friend and I are going to go look at systems this Wednsday hopefully, and try to find alot of new stuff (to us). Right now, I'm a little lost as to what I should do with my system. Part of me just wants a cheap substitute for now, and change it later. The other half says go full bore now, and get what I know I'm going to get in the future so it's done and over with. (which I think is the best way.)
Sorry for contridicting or misleading anyone with this or any other threads. I'm just a stupid 'newb'. Anyway, I'm looking into SoundSplinter for subs and Clarion (I know, whered that come from) for an in-dash flip-out monitor. However, I havn't decided if I want a flip-out in the dash, or just a stationary monitor. Anyway, I'll update as soon as I have done more research and heard more speakers. I know alot has changed, stuff that comes out of my mouth, that's why I've been playing silent with this thread. I don't want to **** any senior members off by stating several different wants/thoughts. ~Ryan |

there's a third option. buy what you can now and finish the system out later. what type of music you listen to is a huge factor. if you like rock, then one or two 10s should suffice. if you like rap, 12s..

start with a good set of interior speakers and a headunit...I would recommend going with Polk's all around...Polk db460's in the front and Polk db690's for the rear, or do components in the front. As far as headunits, look into Pioneer or Alpine. Don't waste money. Do it right, or don't do it al all, even if that means waiting a little longer for a better setup. It's kinda pointless to spend money on something you know for sure you're gonna replace. It takes time, trust me I know, but it's well worth the wait. It's taken me quite a while (almost a year) to find the right sounds system, what actually sounds good to me. The main thing is, don't buy stuff cuz people tell you it's good, or cuz it looks like it would be sweet. By me telling people what kinda setup I have, not many would think it would be a good sound setup, but IMO it's the best sound I've heard in a car: perfect clarity and just enough bass, but not too much. All I have is an Alpine CDA9831 headunit, Kicker 05ks62 components in the front, Kicker 05KS69 6x9's in the rear, and a 10" Audiobahn subwoofer powered by an Audiobahn sub, + an Alpine amp for the interiors. Like I said, some people would say I have a garbage setup, but it sounds pefect for the mix of music I listen to. It's all what sounds good to you. I listen to a huge mix of stuff from Lil Jon to Fall Out Boy, Disturbed, Ian Van Dahl, Armin Van Buuren, etc. A whole mix of stuff. Make sure you demo whatever u plan on buying, for example go into CC's thump room with all the subs and speakers. Don't rush into anything, just make sure you really like whatever you're about to drop $500+ on.

Well, what is in my mind right now is this setup...
Clarion VRX755DV head unit with fold-out monitor. Kicker or Polk 6x9s with 6.5s in the front. Two Sound Splinter 10s, and I havn't decided on an amp(s) yet. I also plan to add a TV Tuner, and a Source Commander, both from Clarion. I'm going to also add two monitors in each head rest, and possibly a gaming system (xbox's are going for dirt cheap from what I've heard.) However... I was also contenplating the idea of definately running a gaming console. If I do, I have no need for a DVD playing head unit like the Clarion. So, my second setup would be something like the previous one, but with three stand-alone monitors (head rests and dash) and the rest the same. I know it's alot, and super flashy, and it's completely different from my original intentions. But, I know different people, and have obtained new info on friends and who they know. Apparently my good friend knows a guy that can get me most of my good for half-price... No, it's not "hot" or anything like that. If this is true, then I'm going to jumo at the chance to get my dream setup before the oppurtunity fades. Any input, or thoughts of this fancy "in my dreams" (Hopefully soon to be reality) system/entertainment center with wheels is appreciated. ~Ryan |

i couldnt have said it better myself Nessuno3400. oh wait i did on one of the last 2 pages. hes right about saving your money. if your going to go all out then save your money and go all out. in the mean time do your homework and listen to every speaker you possibly can.
and like he said its what sounds good to you. i dont like polk, kicker speakers, or audiobahn. but thats just me. his car might sound awsome, i dont know. i have never heard it so i cant judge it. have you made up your mind weather you want to go for sound quallity or just plain loud yet? that will make a differnce in what you buy as well. its easy to find a loud speaker. its hard to find a loud speaker that sounds good. so the question remains. what kind of music do you listen to? Anyway, I listen to alot of hard rock, but if I had a system that has a nice low-end I could see myself listening to stuff like BT, Chemical Brothes, or any other groups that produce dance/trance/tech/house or anything else like that kinda music. I hate to admit it, it's one of my guilty pleasures, but the F&F soundtrack with the rock songs on it is one of my favorite cruising cd's. (first movie) I'm pretty decided on 10s for subs, and components up front. Just going to have to go back to CC and decide between Kicker and Polk. I think even MTX was up there in my book. ~Ryan |
