i'm still waiting to hear the story about how you should pick the size of your subs around what music you listen to....

If someone has a tow truck and wants your car, they are gonna get it. There are simple ways to get around turned wheels and the parking brake.

Well punk if you listen to alot of rap and r&b and want loud street bass go with 15's or 12's for some lower end bass in a ported box. If you listen to alot of rock you may find yourself loving 10's more bcz they are alot more responsive and punchy. Reason being because they don't take alot to me that small of cone. But you will find yourself losing lower end bass. If you want something in between them all like and you listen to rap rock and country go with 12's in a sealed box with a bass knob or some type of bass adjustment so you can match the bass to the music. This is why you should match subs up with what kind of music you listen to.

~Ryan PS. Curent setup idea... Alpine/Pionier head through MTX 3404 into Infinity/Polk/MTX 6.5" Components up front, and 6x9" out back. Infinity 12" or two 10"s through an MTX 3402 or 3401. |

1. transient response 2. group delay transient response (i belive the t/s parameter symbol is Le) is affected by the inductance of the driver, not the size of it. group delay is determined by the general design of the enclosure. in fact, once placed in the enclosure, transient response takes a back seat to group delay as you can take a good response driver and through it out the window with bad group delay. try doing an experiment for shits and giggles. take your 10" driver, add some mass to it and see if it changes the "punchiness" of the driver. i doubt it, although it would lower the Fs of the driver. just for some fun reading, check out: http://www.adireaudio.com/Files/Tech...ooferSpeed.pdf |

Well, I don't know about all that mess, but i just got back from my third trip to CC, and I've got to say that the bass coming from 2 10" subs sounded much better and clearer than from two 12" subs from a rock track. ("Superstar" by Saliva)
By the way, CC did let me use a cd, the clerk said "Just as long as it doesn't have much cusing... and if it does, just don't turn it up too loud." I've got to say, Infinity Reference series subs are teh shiz. (for the money) ~Ryan |

first off i never said that locking the wheel and p.b would make your car tow proof. however you should hear the squeal of all 4 tires as they try to tow it away. and if you hear it you can start shooting at anything that moves. its kinda like a tow alarm.
second thank you punkorama for giving us the 15 hour way to decide how big of subs you want/need. or you could always do it the simple way. get 12s in a sealed box with about a pound of polyfill and you will have great bass no matter what is playing. well i shouldnt say no matter what, but most music will sound great. i really have never listend to polka or anything crazy like that. so i really cant say how the subs would do. but for rock and country they sound great. and altough i dont listen to rap, one of my buddies put in nellys country grammer, and it was really loud and deep. i kinda liked it, only for the bass. so we have 3 trips to circut city and umm. . . 0 trips anywhere else. you dont have to listen to me or anyone else man. all we want you to do is shop around a little bit. no more no less. most of us have made the mistake of getting stuff we think is great and then find something better then what we have for about the same price. then we dont have the money to get what we really wanted in the first place because we waisted the money on something else. oh and when or if you do venture out beyond the walls of cc, bring your cd with you. again i am not trying to come down on you. i just dont want you to do some of the dumb things i have done. no one likes to waist money. |

Trip one... Major distraction because of buddy.
Trip two... Better, got to know the equiptment through music I don't listen to. Trip three... Got to know the equiptment through my music. I just like completely covering all ground before moving on, thats all. Besides, I didnt have any money for gas previously from today. (Got paid) So, now I have money, and now I can try to go test other stuff. I'm honestly plagued as to which head-unit to get. Alot of them sound louder than others. But the quality is always to same to me. (Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood, JVC, and Jensen) all sound identical through CC's wall. I guess what I'm after is something fancy and showy, with alot of colors and a range of eq, preferably with woofer level controls as well. I was looking into ther Pioneer Premier DEH-P86MP through www.onlinecarstereo.com, but I don't know what the display looks like, and that, to me, is part of the selling point. Alot of nice faces are screwed up with a cluttered, jumbled display, which not only makes selecting functions distracting, but sometimes annoying. Also, I don't believe Pioneer has anti-shock mem. and that's not cool, plenty of potholes and bumps in the road where I live, and I hate cd skipping! Can anyone point me in the right direction of head units!? ~Ryan |

Ryan, buddy.... you're asking us to tell you what HU to get... when your deciding factor is display. Everyone likes differet styles on their display. For me, I've always had Pioneer, always loved it. Maybe they aren't the best to everyone, but I've gotten so used to them, when I get a new one, it's like it never changed.

Well, you guys know of alot more models and their features than I do. I was just asking if any of you knew of any flashy models with cool color effects and multiple display screens. I'm just a sucker for that kind of stuff.

You want different colors, or one that has mostly one color?

Well, I'm looking to do the interior like either blue and the standard (stock) black or brushed aluminum and the standard (stock) black. Either way, I'd like to keep most of it cool colored. (ie. blue, green... not red, orange or yellow.)

I meant do you want the display to be multi-colored or one color.

That's actually what I've been looking into. The Premier series.
That, or I may go the route of an in-dash fold-out monitor. Which I'm thinking Alpine IDA-300 (name?). ~Ryan |

Yes, I've already begun clearing all my switches, and hopefully will complete all interior switches by tomorrow. Now, rigging the leds up, that's a bit more complicated, and I'm gonna have to read up on that. I'm not sure I'll be able to handle it.
