yo man good luck with your purchase of the new goat, i wishi one day i can afford something like that that, but i think i have made up my mind to stick with the GA as long as it can last me through college (begiining next school year ) I dont know how you can make the payments, just remember though man, you are the owner of the car, dont let the car own you, dont jump into a huge purchase like this at our age if you will have to spend all your time trying to pay it off, and then not have enough time to enjoy it.. ive done it in the past and there is nothing worse. ANyways man, good luck, and if i were you, i would consider black, there is just something about a black GTO that turns me on

STS remote mount turbo

As far as SRT 8's running 12's, thats on paper. You go to a track and I promise its not going to run 12's. I've seen reports on ls1tech.com that a company took 10 best street legal cars as is bought off the showroom floor and ran a 12.9 in a WS6. Then again thats on paper and I have yet to see someone do this. Mad props if someone can actually do this and have a video to back it up either T/A or SRT-8.

Great review!! I kinda skimmed through the thread so forgive me if I ask some repetitive questions:

So now that you've tested the Auto and found it rather nice, would you consider getting an auto instead of the m6? The only reason I ask is because when I tested an 04 a while back, I just didn't like the manual feel! It felt like I had to fight with it to get it into the next gear. Also it felt like I was shifting all the time in town just because, as you said, it doesn't take much for the car to get going. At the time I didn't know how to skip-shift but it definitely doesn't hurt with this car.

Also, what's this suspension launch thing? And is it only on the auto?

I never actually drove a GTO but the one I sat in the shifter was probably the smoothest shift I've ever felt, if you're fighting to get it into gear no offense but you need to go back to learn how to drive stick school. Manual isnt for everyone I guess but I learned on a manual and been driving one for the better part of the last 11 years so guess I'm used to it by now automatics are boring the only reason I still have the spec is b/c its still a fun daily driver.

I will admit, i'm not the greatest manual driver. I will blame that to the fact i've never owned a car with a manual. I never had a problem leaving in first in the GTO on the test. I don't know how to rev-match though so when I downshifted pulling into the turn lane, I had the tires chirping as the engine caught up. Whoops...

what the fock are you downshifting for besides the fact you think you are in a race car??? You know the stop/turn is coming....kick it into neutral and come to a stop like driving an automatic, or coast through the turn then drop it back into 3rd or 4th when it is time to accelerate out of it. Or, drop it into 3rd and hold the clutch in as you apply break to go around corner as needed, then let out the clutch and hit the gas. You won't even feel the clutch disengage at that RPM.

Has nothing to do with "rev matching", that's an overused BS term. It has to do with not knowing how the fock to operate a manual smoothly or what gear to have the damn car in for X amount of power to continue moving, but not bog out or be too low in gear.

Because i'd never knew what to expect when downshifting before and i've seen it done before with no ill effects. Again, never owned a manual, never really fully learned the proper technique other than the fact I can row through the gears.

I've been advised that rev matching in the process of downshifting would help the engine up to speed to where the lower gear would want to be at in situations where you're about to turn and need a lower gear, or about to accelerate for a pass.

yeah, maybe if you were driving a race car.

Here's some advise. Learn how to launch a car off the clutch, and how to shift through gears as fast and efficiently as you can by running each gear to redline. 99% of the time that will be just as effective for what you are going to do in your life compared to all the focking bullsh1t these John Force and Emerson Fittipaldi douchebags are going to ramble on about.

Neutral as in physically remove it from the gear? Or just hold the clutch. I just leave it in that gear and take the turn leaving a little power down through the turn and if it ends up that I need a lower gear, then at that point i'll go for it.

neutral as in the physical gear, putting the clutch in and holding it is silly sauce baby... if your going under 30 into the gear second...
