That's available only in the Sedan model. The previous member was stating that it should be available in the G6 Coupe model.

Pontiac also really is reportedly considering the installation of the hot 260-hp, turbocharged, 2.0-liter four from the upcoming Solstice GXP in the G4/5 (whatever it will be called)

I hope they do this, it will sell better this way!

^ Agreed, they should throw in a 6 speed and a limited slip diff if they do that.

I kinda like the pursuit, but I do think they should define its styling a little better. I think they outta just call it the sunfire, and give it some sunfire styling cues... as a previous sunfire owner, I really liked the styling of the car.. .so much that I almost bought another one as opposed the grand am (2000 Sunfire GT convertable...sold it the day I went to go look at it!) also if they do offer that 260hp powertrain from the solstice, GM should define pontiac a bit by making sure the colbalt and Ion don't get the powertrain!

GM Canada has officially changed the name of the Pursuit to the G5 Pursuit.

But yeah if they are going to offer it, make it a true successor to the sunfire! make it a much mroe upscale colbalt, offer a better interior with lots of chrome, and the trademark 360 degree vents as seen in the last Firebirds, Grand Ams, Grand Prix's and sunfires. Signature red lighting's a must, hey how about Coupes only? The car looks kinda gimpy as a sedan anyway, as do the Ion's and Colbalts. The sunfire was only offered as a coupe its last 2 years, which was a good thing. The thing looked like a mini-firebird, so seeing mini-four door firebirds going around was scary.

Maybe as opposed to making it a sunfire, maybe throw some Ribs on the side, and make it look like our last generation grand am

after weeks of thinking about it, i say use the platform but make a new, retro fiero. theres plenty of clut following to the original fiero, and imagine a mid-engine sport coupe. instead of following everone elses successes they could start a successfull trend.

imagine a new fiero with the 3900 in it, and maybe the solstice GXP motor as the "base" motor.

I doubt they'll use that name ever again. They basically got rid of that car because of all the recalls they had to issue for it. It was like one of the most poorly engineered vehicles of all time...

They do have their fans, I've met them, but their seems to be a lot more people that just hate the car!

oh come on... what makes it such a "turd" anyway? I owned a '98 sunfire coupe and I thought it was bad ass! I have a 2000 grand am gt now and yeah its better as far as asthetics go, however the wunfire wa 100% more reliable on everything else! That car is now my bro's car and it was a good car t o me.... if I had to do it again the sunfire would be mine and the poorley engineered grand am would oof sould to some other chump! The sunfire was a good car, the grand am was a poorley built POS with a lot of options!!!

For reliability and build quality, my Cavalier and both my Grand Prix's were better than my Grand Am was.

I really think that as long as a person has the car since it was new, drives it normally for the most part, does all the scheduled maintenance then the car will serve you fine. That has been the case with my GAGT. I've had it since day 1 of the cars ownership life, and the only major thing has been the LIM (done under warranty). but I know our cars have their fair share of problems.

how off topic are we?! bring on the G5!

I know as soon as the G4/G5/Pursuit/Sunfire is at the dealership I'll be there checking it out I have to admit when GM announced the drop of the J-platform, and showed off the Colbalt, I was a little upset that the Pontiac didn't have a Delta-based Sunfire to replace it.

Anyway I think the G5 is fine, other than its horrible horrible 1980's HVAC vents. They need to make it a "pontiac" and give it the 360 degree vents!

completly OT but I wanna repsond to this:

I really do love my grand am regardless of how much I bash it. I bash it because I'm a perfectionests who can't stand the cosmetic shape of the car, compared to the shape it was in when I bought in in 2004. Realstically the demise of the car marked the end to Pontiac as it was, since it really was the last True Pontiac! They rate the engine at 175hp and people complain about it, but honestly I have no complaints on accleration. I tell it to go, and it goes. I watch it get up to 70mph and 6000 rpms before the tranny shifts. I've easily gotten to 60 within 7 seconds of take off. It can do some crazy burnouts too! If i turn off traction control and slam the pedal to the ground it cracks me up at the sound it makes! Its a good motor no doubt, and the car itself, its styling is so over the top just like a pontiac should be. Its so aggresive looking, i love it! the ribs, the open mouth front, the "batmobile" styled interior, the chrome star shaped 16 inch rims, its a great car. It just needs some work done to it, and making $10.19/hr only getting an average of 28 hours working night stock at lowes, it makes it hard for me to do any project on the grand am!

to make things worse I just hit a racoon a couple weeks ago, and that completly snapped a fog light mount in half (the foglight and mount are sitting in my living room) and the bumper is cracked to all hell. Right now my priority is getting my cat I just adopted spayed and declawed but after that I'm going to cut back on spending and completly restore the thing to dealership qualty. I've also considered CAI, exhaust (mostly because the rust on the tips is driving me nuts!!!), headers, springs, and struts! I'm also really thinking about getting one of those Cerious performance Carbon fiber SC/T hoods, and the SC/T body kit, and spoiler, and adding 2 blue racing stripes over the body. Oh yeah btw, here's my grand am, the car I dub: "The White Lightning!"

EDIT: I kind of lucked out by getting a grand am that had some really dark aftermarket window tint before i even purchased it! The window tint looks awesome with the Arctic White Exterior!

Yeah we've had these things up here for a while... waste of time... as you guys said, why make a damn 3rd copy of the same thing. Criiiiiiiiist.

Hopefully the turbo LSJ (if the turbo one is still an LSJ?) will wake some up people as to what the ecotec motors are capable of.. my next car I hope will be ecotec powered.

Hopefully they WILL do the turbo LSJ.....I tell ya, most people right now can't begin to understand the capability of the LSJ or the Ecotec for that matter.
