P.S. Teh ghey plate needs to go...take the non-moving violation tickets like a man!
Bob - the adjustor actually gave me extra money for my car cuz of the chrome fender trim!!!! He called them mudguards!

I originally wanted hyperblack wheels with a polished lip for the GA [until I found the Konigs], so I love the wheels too. Don't worry - for exterior mods, I'll be removing badges [i.e. the bigass Subaru on the trunklid], clearing lenses, n slappin on some cf. A drop is necessary too. That's about it. When I'm back outta Jersey I'll take the front plate off.

Alex, I'd get a roof rack, but what for right now? Didn't u get the memo? It's almost spring.

Thanks again for the compliments, guys!

Sorry I haven't been online all week..

I got the official word from my insurance agent the other day, grand total I get AFTER my $500 deductable = $7,041. Fockin nuts.

The cop mailed me a ticket which arrived the other day - something about driving too fast for the weather/road conditions. It's retarded cuz it's totally subjective since he wasn't there when it happened, n it took him over 45 mins to show up! He didn't give it me while I was standing there, n he didn't even file it until the next day. PITA. $111 ticket + 2 points if I don't fight it. Arghhh.

Plead not guilty. You weren't familiar with those roads in PA. Do you have a copy of the accident report yet? Make sure you read the "details" section before you go to court.

You got a very good amount for your car, considering that's more than the suggested retail on Kelly Blue Book. Most people would be happy as F*** if they got that much for their 2000 SE.

Anyways, be happy w/ the car you have now, and fight the ticket like randy said.

Definitely fight it, thats a bs ticket. At the least try to work a deal with the judge, some will let you pay the court costs and not take points (I've done this twice) so try for that at the least if its hard to get it thrown out.

It is not the points on your driver's licence, that the insurance company will care about.

It is the conviction of driving too fast for the weather/road conditions; that will jack up her premiums on top of the 1-accident at fault (decided by your insurance company, which is totally independent of what the Police say).

Ah, I didnt know it worked like that, thanks mike.

BTW, would it be possible to change this to a non-moving violation since technically she wasn't moving when it was written up and the police are really taking a guess at it more than anything else? Because with the rainy conditions it would be much harder to determine if she was driving recklessly due to the hydroplaning factor.

Oh of course I'm gonna fight this ticket! I have a number of reasons: 1] he wasn't there. 2] I'm an outta state driver, unfamiliar with the road, why would I be driving too fast. 3] the yellow line I was following ENDED so I kept going straight cuz I couldn't see 4] the ticket was mailed to me AFTER he left the scene of the accident, n nothing was said to me while he was there.

Not only do I not want the points cuz my insurance would go up another $1000/yr, I don't want the points cuz if I ever do get pulled over for something, the cop will be more inclined to give me a ticket for whatever he was pulling me over for.

It's just frustrating cuz I'm over 100 miles away from where I hafta fight this.

It's not a BS ticket, you just said yourself the line ended and you couldn't see so you kept driving.. If you were driving at a safe speed, you wouldn't have wrecked the car.. If someone wrecks a car on their own you are guaranteed a ticket, as much as it sucks. They can hand you a ticket, mail you a ticket, doesn't matter, all normal stuff..

Anyways, you got a ****load of money from insurance for that car, a $111 ticket is nothing, and NJ can not surcharge insurance for 2 points. Over 2 points, yes. Don't know about that municipality but it's hit or miss whether they let you plead down to some other violation, hope the magistrate/da is in a good mood.

The good mood is what really matters. I took off my seat belt, (as a passanger) to get out a light and there was a cop two cars back. He pulled over my buddy and gave me a $90 ticket for not wearing a seat belt.....that cop was in a bad mood if I ever saw one.

So sorry to read about your accident and traffic ticket. But like everyone else already said, you came out unhurt and that is the most important matter. I hope you beat that ticket too. That officer must be trying to get his sergeant stripes or something.....I hope you appeal it and win it.
I am brand new here on this forum so we have never chatted yet.... but I did want to say hi and chime in and wish you well. I don't know anyone here yet; but I reside close to Katie and I have chatted with her on occasion. Good luck with your new ride!!!
Take care Mel..

I never said the ticket was bs.

I am appealing - just sent the check, etc today. IDC about the cost of the ticket itself, I just don't want points. I was told that my insurance is gonna go up another $1k/yr for the next 3 yrs if I have even 2 points. I've never had points on my license, so I really dunno how it works. I'm pretty confident I can beat this ticket, it's just an additional hassle n a pita.

Thanks again, fellas.
