Can someone explain this kit???

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB..._BIN_Stores_IT

Here are just the brackets... I think this will allow the Vette Rotors too...

Anyone know if those impala rotors are directionally vaned? Most factory rotors aren't. If thats the case they still won't perform as well as a Baer kit. If you can get the parts cheap enough then sure they will be much better than any stock size brake upgrade. I'm still not sure if they will fit inside the stock wheels though. Just because they fit on another car with 16" wheels doesn't mean they will fit ours. The back spacing is probably different so you won't know until you try and fit the wheels. You might need a spacer. Baer's 12" kit will fit in some 16" wheels but not the stock ones, and the 13" kit will fit in some 17" wheels, but only if they have enough back spacing to clear the calipers.

Corvette's use larger rotors than the F-body cars....

^^^ Sounds like an upgrade to the upgrade ???? Vette Rotors + Vette Calipers = Teh win? It would cost an extra 200 for the "adapter".

Our brakes are a hot pile of steamy doo-doo.. The brake fade is awful slamming to one stop barely without confidence in where I'll end up.... If i'm upgrading (which I am, Vette calipers are in the mail) would I really benefit paying 200 more bucks for a slightly larger beefier rotor?? Might as well see what the ultimate set could be...

the ultimate set? .................

our brakes work fine for daily driving, upgrade the pads and rotors and stainless lines and you'll be doing better than most on the site...

I know I'll be doing this mod, not w/ 'vette sized rotors though.......... and think about this you need the vette rotors drilled out to 5x115, same as W-bod and N-bod....

I think everyone that is thinking about doing this should go out and pick up the newest issue of Sport Compact Car magazine ( i think thts the one) they did an article on if brake upgrades (or any upgrade for that matter helps) and they're all really good artciles. I have ceramics pads and drilled/slotted rotors and when i auto-x and brake as hard as i can i end up getting my tires to brake loose and i slide. So i think with this upgrade if you guys dont have really good tires on your just going to be doing alot of sliding whenever you hit your brakes hard.

I could be completly wrong. But after reading that article and going through everything in my head that is my conclusion. Let me know if im way off base here.

Speaking of "braking news" I just put on my new set of 4 Baer Rotors and new GM Carbon/Ceramic pads...they look NICE but the scraping noise from them sounds odd....sounds like I have worn my pads out and am running on metal. I have never had anything but flat faced rotors but it sounds like azz. ANyone heard of this? All of this stuff is brand new and the caliper bolts are well lubed.

yea its common with the carbon brakes dont worry it starts to go away some after a while ... when it does make sure the slot in the pad material isnt clogged (if there is one) with worn material.. if it is "gently" scrape the slot clean and reinstall

so do the GTO calipers also fit? i thought that a pontiac model would work better, but im actually thinking about the vette ones. theres a vette shop around here, i might see if theres leftovers from an upgrade that they are willing to sell.

for those interested i did some research.
pep-boys:
calipers: $84.99 each + $45.00 core charge
auto zone
calipers: $71.99 each + $42.00 core charge (lifetime warranty)
(red or yellow) $99.99 each + $84.00 core charge (3 month warranty).

the wording on the red powdercoated ones was wierd. it says that they need to be ordered in pairs, but each side is identicle. its wierd though since the core charge is double, and the warranty is way less.

pep-boys also had some generic cross drilled rotors for $49.99 each that looked pretty good.
