i had a slight increase of excitement. i found the c5/z06 calipers on gmpartsdirect.com for $96 each, but then upon further research i found that they dont bolt to the f-body brackets. such a let down.

a friend of mine with a z28 might have his brackets left over form when he got the baer big brake kit. i need to ask him. otherwise im gonna hit up the local junk yards.

BTW z06 p/n is
88895128
88895129
but its useless anyhow unless you can find the few custom brackets that were made for the f-body peeps.

ok so my friend is giving me all of his front/rear setup. its calipers/brackets, everything. his is 96, and he said that the 98+ was different, so the brackets might not work...but for free its worth a shot. im ordering the calipers as i type.

Well I went to a bunch of junkyards today, but all I could find was 2 late model camaros, but they were v6 models and had no brackets and rear drums, instead of disks all the way around. I guess it has to be off a V8 Camaro? SS?

Were they stripped already?? Were there mounted calipers on the front of the car??

Yeah the calipers were on the front of the car, but unless I'm mistaken, there were no brackets.

I'm suprised too, the v6 Camaro has rear drums but the v6 GAGT has rear disks. And the Camaro is supposed to be the sports car.

Would the local Chevy dealership parts dept have one of those breakdown pictures on their computer with all the pieces?

If so they may be able to tell exactly which Camaros have the brackets. Otherwise, it's back to the junkyard.

anyone know what parts fit the rear yet? doing a rear disk from an alero while doing this and would like to buy a ~10" kit for the back to match up front somewhat. arent the camaro rears the same size as the GT's?

it would seem that the rear discs on a grand am 99+ are 10.94", same as the stock front. that baffles me because i thought it was smaller, but according to summitracing, the rotors are the same size.

for the f-body, it says that its a 12.01" rear rotors...funny, thats bigger than the fronts.
