Front seat frame interior less cushion and cover

Its been over 10 years since I posted anything on this forum, but I still own my 99 GA SE 4 door.
I just wanted to share a picture of my front driver seat frame less the foam cushion and outer cloth cover .
This wire mesh of a back frame does break and I have replaced it well over 7 times over the last ten years.
Just wanted to share something so that other know just what it looks like if you think your upper seat support is broken.

I've had broken rods poke through the cushion right into my back... And I've had another one that went through the back of the seat as well...

These things snap so often it's almost worth keeping a few rods on hand

I can't remember if it is a direct swap but I believe the Saturn Ion Redline and Cobalt SS Recaros fit in the GA nicely. You should go that route.

You just might have an idea there sir. Might have to research that a bit more. Thanks.

Nope they don't fit... The frame on those seats are wider and you'd need a custom bracket to make them work... But those recaros are super comfy

Thanks Tim. Also too bad they didn't offer more colors of them. Will likely be swapping in a full leather interior if I can find a decent car at the yards here. I spent a good 10 minutes trying to figure out why my back seats wouldn't fold down. Then I realized the non 60/40 seats don't fold. I've been around a lot of Grand Ams, but this is my first one without 60/40 rear folding seats.

Yeah found that nothing is a direct swap via searching but doesn't mean with a custom bracket that they wouldn't fit unless you are saying that you measured already they won't. I only sat in them once too so I'm not sure how good they really are anyways .

No the seats physically fit in the car But yes need custom brackets fabbed to fit our mounting points... The recaro sliders are 2-3" wider than our sliders

So did I until I bought the '01 coupe base model. That's why I was back there for so long trying to figure it out. But no. It's a 1 piece back support all the way across. No folding whatsoever.

All base models came with non folding seats. You can, however, replace your seats with 60/40 seats. Just make sure you grab the latching mechanisms.

That's the idea.

Hopefully I can find a decent set at the yards around here.

Gonna hunt for seats, aluminum control arms. rear discs, a dash vent piece, and a hood release lever. And a 2 bar map sensor off a GTP or other such equipped vehicle.
