Hi everyone!!

EDIT: These pics are much better...

I just joined a few weeks ago and I figured I would post some pics of semi new ride. It is a black 2005 Grand Am GT with sc/t style hood and spoiler. I love this car!!. Current mods include the whole car being de-badged, removed sc/t hood inserts and replaced honeycomb mesh with gutter guard style mesh then reinstalled back plates(I wanna open it up totally, but I haven't come up with a way to do that and not flood the engine with bugs and rain ), installed gutter guard mesh in all front and rear grill openings, blacked out pontiac emblem on the grill, and I replaced the stock intake with a Weapon-R short ram intake(I love the sound it makes when you gun it!!), NGK Iridium TR55ix plugs, Castrol Syntec oil. That's about all I have done so far. I have a lot of ideas I want to do to the car, but money is tight and I gotta pay the bills first!! Tell me what you think!!

Added mods to above post. Here is my list of hopefully to do mods:

Appearance:

dual post mirrors
HID headlights
SC/T front lip (if I can actually find one)
lowering springs and new struts
painted calipers (gloss black)
AR-363 American Racing rims

Performance:

street ported heads+LIM+UIM+65mm throttle body
SS headers
Borla exhaust
PCM tuning
front and rear strut tower braces
MSD wires
throttle position enhancer
under drive crank pulley
transmission cooler
possible full synthetic tranny fluid also(depends on if it's recommended to use or not)
figuring out a scheme to get the SC/T hood to function as a cold air source without allowing water and foreign objects from entering into the engine compartment
custom air box for my intake

You guys or gals got anymore pointers that I might need to add to my list of to do?

Very clean looking ride. I wouldn't bother with the Hood/Air induction idea. You will not get enough airflow to see a large enough difference compared to a traditional Cold air intake (which is a lot easier to obtain/install)

Doesn't sound like he's doing it for ram air, he may be doing it to keep the engine cooler. I know some subie guys who do that, helps a lot at the track. Ofcourse there really isn't a benefit unless you are fairly well modded.

Welcome to the best GA forum in on the interweb..

Leave the mesh in there and just get rid of the back panel on the scoops. You don't need to worry bout rain or bugs and such getting in there, not a big deal. Even when it pours i've never had a problem and the engine never gotten wet, i and others have been running with out back plates or mesh (totally open) for quite some time. I think cuz the engine is so hot that any drops of rain quickly evaporate ..besides..you really gota spray water in a specific angel to get it in there.

Just take your time when you wash the hood and give the engine a good scrub whenever you wash your car and you will be fine. Since you have a short ram intake, it may benifit a bit with it totally open especially when you're moving.
