Question about non GA HID Application

I have an 05 pontiac montana that has the 9004 bulb (high/low combination). The headlights are pretty poor and we do alot of night travelling to the cottage. I am thinking of puting HIDs in it. So here are mye questions:

1. What company makes a good reliable kit?
2. What range (8000k, 6000k) it the brightest whitest light?
3. Is there overheating issues in stock housings (at least with the GA)?
4. What bulbs could I put in the fog lights to keep it uniform?
5. Hows the performance in the rain?

The DRL's run off of the parking lights FYI.

I know its not a GA, but any info helps.

Thanks.

I got my headlight and fog light kits from http://xenonking.com/index.html
They are quite expensive depending on the Kit you get between McCulloch and VisionPro
but they are two of the best HID kits "I've" seen on the market.

I have seen the McCulloch in person on 2 diff vehicles and they are excellent
I just purchased and H1 and 880 VisonPro Kits and together they cost me $400. I know its expensive but I am went for quality and I don't ever plan on having to replace these kits...

Please don't put HIDs in housings that are not designed for them. Its illegal, and it gives off a horrible glare that can blind oncoming drivers. Do it right or don't do it at all.

Am i the only one who thinks upgraded ''normal bulbs'' are only about a 20-30% improvement over stock at best?

No, but there is still a valid point about it being stupid to throw HIDs into housings not designed for them.

If you don't have the money/balls to do a retrofit, then go the easy way and get some silverstars or silverstar ultra's.

It has nothing to do with not having the money/balls to do retro fits, that seems evident with the mods on my GA, it has something to do with no projectors available for the van. I would however consider upgrading the bulbs, but what would be the best bulb available, preferably with a white light?

Projector headlights can always be made

To answer your question 600k are very bright but also blue, I read that 4300k are the whitest.
I agree with Dr. Fab retrofit projectors in and get the HID's.

That's why I mentioned "retrofit"..I technically went the easy way out by buying Magyver's old projectors..but I still think it gives me permission to be an asswipe..and I was too lazy to look at your GA again,

There are a few good boards online with info on how to do a retrofit and what to buy..tell them what you're working with and they'll make recommendations on what to use and where to buy it.

Or you can drop $3k for a thermal imaging unit in your car..

I believe that's Magyver's new prowling grounds if my memory serves correct.
