YOU KNOW WHY...magyver...your stereo opening is only a DIN and a half....but gton9teens is double din. I bet you could just grab the plastic trim piece from a 2001 and it would have the larger opening...When i got my new head unit installed, the guy at Ovation was like..."it's really strange they switched to double DIN for the 2001 model year, because I just did an install on a 00 grand am and it was 1.5 DIN"....i don't know if they switched back to 1.5 in 2002 or if they are still double din. craziness

magyver, checkin out your install, looks great, we have the same cd player it apears
the reason your screen looks bigger is because it apears you had to move the screen up for the buttons.
did you do the fiberglassing? im just starting to work with that stuff,

GTon9teens- I really like your setup, did you install the TV yourself or did you have it professionally done?

all that got jacked, i have the same setup now though, with a silver screen instead of black and a kenwood cd player, im still waiting to borrow a digital camera. i did it all myself because you cant trust anyone around here when it come to that stuff, serveral of our shops have bad reps for having informants to other people who like to take the stuff back while your asleep

dude sounds like you need to move/relocate out of your area. either someone has really done their home work on you, or they just simply are too poor to pay for their own ****. I would suggest bolting all your equipment down, and stripping all the bolt heads off. Pain in the ass to tap and drill them out, but it will make it harder for them to get your stuff out, amybe even discourage them

That really sucks that someone tried to break into your car again, I know that the Springfield area of Missouri has had a lot of problems with break ins recently. Just last week, all in the same night someone broke into my friends camaro stole all his cd's and cell phone, but left his system... then someone broke into my friends mustang and stole over $3000 worth of stuff... and anothers friends camaro got broke into, stole the cd player and attempted to hot wire it but failed, and last month my friends civic was stolen and then found a week later in a town 30 miles away where the clutch and transmission went out and left the car stranded. The only good thing from that one was that her subs, amp, and cds were in my car at the time so the guy didnt really get much.

I know this is a really old thread, but i am intersted in doing this project very shortly. GTon9teens when you got your LCD screen, from the picture it looks like the screen fit right in there. Did you do any modifiying? the plan i have if i do this because i am familiar with fiberglass (built a sub box with it) is to take off the counsel thing, and just fiberglass a flat surface over the hole. when a couple layers are done, sand it, bondo it, sand it, and then just cut out the area that the screen would fit into to. mabye silicone the screen to the panel from the back? toss the dvd player in the glove box, and put an aftermarket cd player under the HVAC knobs..... does this sound about right?

The only problem is when they break into your car and find your stuff to be bolted down, they will probably trash it since they won't be able to take it.

how is the visibility of the screen located where its at? ive kind of thought of putting one there but it seemed the shifter would get in the way.
