Question Question about the "chrome" rim

afternoon gentlemen,is there two different kind of "chrome" rims, like a real one and fake one.... the reason i asked is because i grabbed mine out of the trunk this afternoon after work and noticed it had like a chrome plastic cover on it,i cant get it off,so are they made like that so they dont rust or do i have the cheapies ??

GM refers to them as the "Chrometechs", and it's a good thing. Yes, they are plastic, but that means they won't rust, pit and oxidize like real chrome. Easier to keep clean and maintain as well.

But over time, the plastic will buckle a bit where the spokes and the rim meet

I haven't seen this with mine yet, they're eight years old, and holding up extremely well.
