I have not heard the present exhaust system from outside the car, but a spectator told me it sounds good, as in "all you can hear is the blower." That's at WOT. It is loud at idle and midrange rpms. Growls and some droning, more so with windows down, but no rasp that I can hear. Upper-mid rpms need improvement in sound, as heard from inside the car. Anxious to hear it from the outside.

I'd say semi-built, not everything that should have been done to it. Of course, hard to tell what all was actually put in. I have a build sheet somewhere.

My reaction time's slightly off, too. She's still in striking distance for a 12.8, I think. I'll try to go quarter-mile on a cool day. Can't believe the engine's still going on this thing.

That is awesome numbers Greg and good to know your alc/H20 is working for you. It is too bad you can't get back in the 1.8 60ft range like your best. Do you think it has the ability to pull less than a 1.8 60ft? Do you think there is some sort or acceleration limiting factor the PCM tables? I am curious since I haven't seen any FWD GA make it out of the hole faster than that and I know you have to be making the torque to do it.

How much boost are you running AleroB888?

Our times should be similar with my centrifugal sc setup @9psi if I could hook, I ran once at the track and instead of feathering the throttle off of my 3600stall I punched it, I spun into 3rd gear in my auto car with drag radials on and ran 14.2@104 with a 2.4sec 60'

The 1.8 's were run on days with better air density and thorough cool-downs..... almost to the point of being too cold...but these runs were more real-world. If it did go a perfect launch and just the right alcohol injection, possibly a high 1.7.....on a good day. Milzy's track car has done a 1.7, iirc

I don't think the PCM is limiting the performance at this point. Wear and tear on the drivetrain no doubt has an effect.

I'm still not satisfied with the total sound of the exhaust. There's no metallic or tinny sounds, but there is the higher pitched growl that comes with the V6. I don't know how few discs I can get away with yet on the SuperTrapp. 20-24 is supposed to be open pipe, I have 30 in there now. The assembly weighs 8 pounds less than the Magnaflow tailpipe muffler, and takes up far less space.

I didn't watch the boost gauge at the track. It peaks around 14 or so with good traction, holds for a couple seconds, then trails off to 8 - 10. I don't consider gaining boost pressure as a positive in every case. I ported the inlet/outlets and gained a couple average psi, but when you add an exhaust component, a gain could just mean more backpressure.

It's very difficult to break 14.0 with street tires, or about 13.5 with DRs, depending on the brand used. With FWD, even using slicks, the tire pressure has to be right, and still have to "feather" the throttle and optimize launch rpm. Especially with a Roots supercharger.

104 mph should get you low 13s on slicks.

My 13.7 was on street tires. 225's at that.

But yeah, traction is really the limiting factor on a fwd car. I have to launch very softly and I build up the throttle% as speed and rpm go up in first gear. If I get it just right I can hit wot about 2/3 of the way to red line in 1st. 60' times really weren't that great though. It's tough to get much better than a 1.8 on a fwd car. More power and torque usually just equals more wheel spin. You either have to add wider and/or stickier tires, lower the overall weight, or shift the weight balance forward. Physics is against you on the launch.

Got a soundclip on it from a distance. Sounds pretty good from the side opposite the muffler, not as good from the near side (going in the left direction). But I have some ideas on how to improve it. It is louder now than with the Magnaflow tailpipe muffler installed in that position.
