removing monsoon HU

i have a 03' GT and i am wanting to install a standard delco radio w/o the monsoon option. attached is pic of the unit i will be using. it will be coming off a 2001 GA. my 01 gt delco radio is much louder and has way deeper bass than the monsoon radio that is in my 03'. my question is this a plug and play situation or what will be required to make it work? there many trying to go the monsoon route but im trying to go the other way around. not many write ups on downgrading? i guess. i will follow up regardless and let everyone know if this works or not. the monsoon radio/system just leaves much to be desired, thanks.

Search the site for the answer. there are a few threads talking about this. It will lead you to your answer.

My two cents is. some radio's have a code.. don't quote me on this which, for myself I'm pretty happy with my OEM radio. I figured why should I put a after market H/U in my car when my stock OEM one works just fine..

The radio will have to be flashed at the dealership to your VIN in the 03, which will cost ~$50.

Do you have aftermarket or stock speakers in your 03? I know my Monsoon system was much louder than the standard Delco system in my brother's 00.

Your speakers are probably toast. I know with my Alpine Type R speakers, they sounded deeper than OEM. I doubt the HU change will make much difference. Plus, the stock 03 Monsoon can work with XM radio, mine was bought new with a lifetime subscription, main reason why I've never focked with it.

i have pioneer premiers in the back and pioneer 4 x 6 plates in the front. the oe speakers were shot to ****. i believe being that the replacement speakers are 4 ohms and the oe monsoons being 2 ohm there was going to be a big performance loss. i will fire up the tech 2 for the HU reprogramming. im not sure what option the delco deck was?

Car was traded in at a Nissan dealership, shipped off to action then ended up at the used dealer I found it at. GM dealerships are supposed to deactivate it when models are traded in, but mine never went back to the dealership it came from.
