I still need to clean my wheels and do the vinyl in my interior. It's been raining here all day though. And I have homework to do (priorities). It's supposed to clear up tomorrow though, so I might get it done then.

Washed and waxed it today and went to a car show, some classics and hotrods there but a few newer cars showed up, my buddy took his G8 and another buddy took his 99 Z28.

Thanks Aaron, I always hated the fact that they were 17's but after I lowered the car I am satisfied with them, that is until a larger set of staggered C6 wheels show up on craigslist, I really want a 295 tire on the rear

I just thought it was the texture of the paint. If thats orange peel then whatever, its all around the car. The paint feels completely smooth where the "orange peel" is so I don't think I need to worry about it since I keep up with the paint. The car is 13 years old, what can ya do?

I wonder if plastic pieces can get orange peel because everything that is the physical metal body has orange peel but the plastic/fiberglass pieces like the bumpers/hood/side skirts/spoiler are completely without the "orange peel."

I generally don't care for red cars, but yours looks really good, Tanner.

i'm not nitpicking by any means. i had never heard of orange peel before, and i had no idea it could be eliminated. it's just the nature of the clearcoat to dry in thin/thick splotches. it came from the factory that way. and dont ever use the excuse, it's 13 yrs old so i dont care. people cant believe it when i tell them mine is 15 yrs old. it's something to be proud of! because yours is in nicer shape than most guys 3 year old car!

the plastic pieces on my GA dont have much clear coat left, but what i noticed most about the plastic is that it fades and the clear falls off much sooner than on the metal parts. on my g8, the plastic parts have insane orange peel. the blue subie test fender i worked over, it had orange peel, but i wet sanded and polished it truly smooth and now reflections are sharp like a mirror.

in this 1st pic, notice how the surface has like a wavy lake effect on all the reflections.

here is halfway through wet sanding. notice the "dots" that have been sanded off. those are peaks in the clearcoat that scatter the reflections. when you sand down all the peaks, and polish it, you get a perfect sharp reflection.

so compare the before to this after

can't believe i was able to do this in my garage. it's truly a "showcar" finish
