Well i woke up today to find that i had 3 flat tires. One of them filled up but the other had a big hole in it, and while i was moving to do the 3rd, the air hose exploded. Anyone know what i should do? (i dont know if i should put on a donut because it is really snowy and icy.)

It depends. I'm assuming they don't have emissions testing in TX? Some states require a failed cat be replaced with an OEM replacement to meet emissions. The factory pieces are usually much more expensive, both because they usually are part of the downpipe so they include all the piping and flanges etc, and also because they usually have more platinum in there. That's what makes them work, and more platinum = more efficient and more expensive.

The cheaper aftermarket cats usually have less platinum and are less efficient and/or take longer to light off, and sometimes won't pass emissions testing because of this. Some brands are better than others though, and if you get a long enough cat with a big enough core it should still work pretty good.

^ this. I bought a new y-pipe for my 94 Silverado for $127 and the cat is a very cheap one. I can smell the difference from before and now. But it's not a big deal since its my winter beater, and the truck is straight piped anyways.

Yes Texas does have emission test. Ill just go ahead and get a OEM cat to be on the safe side. Thanks for the info

I got a universal cat for my Cavalier and it passed inspection. If you lived in my area I would say go to where I usually go just in case.

hmm where did you go? my shop quotes me like 1,200 to replace with an OEM. I need something that will last and that is equal to or better than factory one.

I live in the north side so I went to a shop close to my house. Not sure on your vehicle but on mine Thunderbolt catalytic converters by Performance Curve are good to use.

Rinsed it off. Nothing better then a winter wash. I feel the car looks better clean when its the outside has been snowed/salted over.

S3.

Still looks better since everyone else is too sissy and/or lazy to wash their cars.

waiting for a used one to pop up dirt cheap... can't justify spending the price new for how little there is
