I loved my GA in the snow with some snow tires on it. I would be bombing through snow no problem while trucks in four wheel drive would be struggling.

springs and spacers make those ol' chrometech stockers look pretty good imo.

Car is a trooper in the snow, Don't understand why people give FWD and GAs sht for driving in the snow. I have ran snow tires in the winter on my GA for a few years. I agree that it is definitely a trooper in the snow. Your car covered in that crap looks just like mine. Ha-ha. |

Hey TDavis, did you get your wheels from the tire rack? I couldn't find the offset you have with our bolt pattern. Did you go with 5x114? I have been running that pattern on my car for about nine years.

He has factory wheels which are 5x115, so obviously they aren't 5x114. They don't make them in that bolt pattern. I'm pretty sure he's using wheels spacers... if I remember right.

I think he mean't my aftermarket wheels(Atleast I hope so). Those are my stock wheels in the picture.
I got my 18x8 from the Canadian equivalent of Tirerack. The site I think was 1010tires.com. Thats the only place I could find the Sport Edition KV5's in the offset/bolt pattern/size I wanted. They don't have the wheels in stock anymore last time I checked. They're 5x114.3, My spacers/adapters where set to 5x114.3 while my stock wheels are 5x115 so theres no problems there, just if I where to have a problem I would want it to happen on my stock wheels, not my 18s. Hub bore lip on my spacers is the same as stock. They're 22mm spacers. And Yeah I have All-Season tires so for AS's its surprising in the snow ![]()

I look at your pics and only see a couple of inches of snow. yes the g/a does okay in a couple of inches of snow, no doubt. but when 2 inches becomes more then about 3 or 4, then its a whole different ball game. the snow on the sides of my driveway right now go up to damn near my door handle. and considering every time the freaking play goes by it dumps about 2 feet of snow in front of my driveway, I tend to take the suv instead of the g/a. perhaps if you moved a little more north your opinion would change.

Honestly I've made it through 5-6 inches non-plowed and was still fine, back when my grandparents still lived here their street wasn't plowed and I went by to visit and I chugged through it and even turned around to park and never got stuck. What I meant by people giving FWD cars sht in the snow is TA_Guy and some others a GAOC last year where trying to prove the argument that RWD is better in snow then FWD. I actually saw a perfect case in point yesterday. There was probably an 1/8" to 1/4" snow sheet on the street(Was plowed but excess was packed down onto the street) a chevy trailblazer was in front(RWD) and a Fusion was behind it(FWD). The Trail blazer was BARELY moving anywhere while the Fusion guy finally decided just to half throttle it and spun the tires for a split second then flew past the person in the trailblazer. The person in the trailblazer was not being stupid about the throttle either.

In my opinion about the best thing about FWD is the weight right on the drive wheels, with any half decent tire it can go fine. But a good snow tire will do more for it then most people give it credit for.
