They don't want to spend it on an old car yet they bought you a GA. That makes no sense.

Not a bad thing either...the Opel/Vauxhalls would sell awesome here and are higher quality than the GM we're used to.

*facepalm* they gave the old car one shot. Now that it possibly failed, they are trying to get me away from looking at older cars. They think certain newer cars are more reliable.

In my opinion, you won't really find a good car for that range these days that is American. Cars you are looking at, Buick, Pontiac, Ford, etc..., they all pretty much suck between 1998-2004 They really aren't that dependable for those lower "affordable" end models. The higher end cars like mustangs, g8, trucks, SUVs are better cars, but out of your range. If 6k is your limit, you need to look at a honda, Toyota or Mazda. Those cars are cheap and reliable and can still be fun little cars. Cheap to fix and insure.
If your parents want to get you a cheap car that will run for a long time, look at an early-mid 2000 import. Much better in your case. Just my 2 cents. |

I have looked at a few Honda Accords, but around here there are only a few, and they are old, base models, and beaten up. I would have to travel to Aberdeen or Mitchell or Sioux Falls to find a decent one. No use going over to Mobridge (reservation cars usually aren't taken care of at all), so I am kinda stuck between a rock and my undriveable car. God I want it to be repairable for a cheap price

If you want a good car, most of the time it won't be in your back yard. Especially out in bum**** nowhere. Sounds like you just need to get a diesel truck and pull your buddies around the barren state.

No offense. From what I'm getting from this is your parents are fked in the head. Trying to say that in the nicest way possible and by no means trying to insult them but damn. No imports(LOL?) no "old" cars. Just curious, what do they drive?
If they truely didn't want you to get a old car in the end they wouldn't of "given it a chance" the first time. Even if it is their money I feel its really retarded that they are telling you what brand you can and can't buy. They might as well choose the car for you.

Should be done sunday once we take it in Friday. Its my dads friend so hes cutting us a good deal. Friday couldn't come any slower. I'll have money left over after I pay him for the paint which is always good.

He works for Ford and they're like 2-3weeks behind with all the hail damage and stuff the area around us got. So 2 days I would think is pretty respectable.

Mom drives a 2012 Chrysler Town & Country Touring-L. Dad drives a 2006 Ford F250 SuperDuty 4x4 and also has a 2012 Polaris Ranger Limited Edition. My dad has been in a wealthy family growing up, and my mom was the opposite. See if you can make the connection here. Dad's parents drive a 2007 Lincoln Navigator Limited and are going to buy a 2014 Cadillac CTS or ATS. Mom's parents drive a 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6 and a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle. So as you can see, the "no old cars" mostly comes from my dad. My mom grew up with many "old" cars, and she had them break down, but she says "yeah stuff like this just happens. You have to and should deal with this stuff when you are a teenager, and drive an "old" car. Teenagers shouldn't have a new car, just because it's simply not right. They should start out with an old one, and slowly work their way up to newer ones. This way it builds character."

Yall are greedy then if you don't think thats reasonable. I didn't count the days when I first got the kit. I count them when I actually go to the painter and discuss the situation. But ya you're right, I should of got it painted in winter and put it on in the 20 degrees snowy weather.

Oh crap it might help if I explain why they don't like imports. It's because there's no one within 75 miles who can service them. Only shops here are American (ford, gm, chrysler, etc)
