Yeah, I would like my car to not get fked up from water getting into the CAI. Heard from too many people that have had water problems. Not to mention 2hp from it, wooo. Only thing a CAI for our cars would do is for cosmetic purposes.

So that's Vtec...

People who hydrolock their engines because of a CAI are idiots that thought their car could be a submarine. My gf's Galant has had the AEM CAI on it for three years now, zero issues in rain and snow. Never had an issue ONCE with my intake on my GA.
Grow a pair and get one. Yes, it's 2HP, and better than the POS GM crap intake box.

Still doesn't change the fact that its purely cosmetic for our cars. I'm not into the CAI gimmick.

You sound like my friend. You're actually no different then me atm so you can't talk for now. You still have a pipe dream of a complete rebuild and "turbo." You plan on keeping your car for the rest of your life so thats different in your case.
This car isn't worth anything unless you can get forced induction which on one side is too much work for whats its worth(turbo) or just a rare find(S/C). And just like Aaron said, if you want a reliable car keep this car N/A. Just like HOYS said also, the market for this car is dead. IMO not worth the trouble or work. I'd rather have a better platform. Not to mention I don't have another car to DD while this one would be getting a S/C or Turbo installed. And trust me, everytime I look at the car I tell myself I really want to S/C it. But the rarity of one popping up isn't worth the wait. People like my other friends who have cars with a good aftmarket...its easy for them to say, "Oh just S/C it!" And for my friend who has a Rivi its way to easy for him to say that. I need to tell him "sorry my car didn't come stock with a S/C." Not trying to sound like a d!ck, but sht.

I would say I am a bit different. My car is tuned and has some good bolt ons for now. Im happy with its performance. I want to cam it. But wasting the money on that is pointless since I would be switching it out for another cam with the build. And actually I still plan on doing a turbo. You may have your doubts but I dont. Sure im not jumping into it... theres life that gets in the way. Ive gotten little things here in there when I can for the new setup. But my job I have now is not the best for me. This is my last week at my current shty job for a way better one. So this new one will help me move things along on the build I would like. I cant just snap my fingers and make it happen. It takes money you know.
But hey you have your opinions. I don't care if its a dead platform or not. It makes it all more fun to build it. And in my case, I like to have high power in a car that people wont expect it being fast, and plus my car is one of the last oldsmobiles ever made. So i do plan on keeping it. Dead or not, im not going to be another person just throwing the car away. Plus in a few years I can have a classic plate. Plus my current plan as of now is a daily. Then save for a build.

FYI you've got 12 years before you can have a classic plate.
Seeing as your car is 13 years old and with the amount of miles it has on it, its probably lost some HP. Your bolts on and tune, congrats you're now back to probably close to a little over stock HP. And what you said about your job and money goes the same for me. I can't just snap my fingers and get turbos/superchargers.

Honestly you would be suprised how much faster it would be compared to stock 3400. It has 242 ft lbs of tq to the flywheel at 4400-4600 rpm. Ive messed with a stock 3400 GA with much lower miles, and the difference is huge.
Just the other day it smoked a boosted audi TT. So with 207k miles the car is still very strong. And yes. I know how long ive got for the plates.

one of the guys i go to the track with did some testing and iirc there was no difference in 1/4 speed or time. his engine is modded similar to mine so it's far from stock.
i've been sporting the wai for the longest time. |

Gonna get the cladding repainted because now that there are no badges it sticks out like a sore thumb in some lighting next to the freshly painted kit
. Once I removed the badges and initially was going to put on the SC/T badges I slapped them on and it didn't look right. Might get the ones from Grafxwerks since they will flow well with the colors. For now though its badgeless, which always looks good nonetheless.![]()

The e46 is treating me well, it's costing me an arm and a leg to fill up but I'm really enjoying the car and I love how it drives. The car handles like no other.
