Well, I actually had a problem with my cold air intake last night... for the first time in 12 years.
We had near record rainfall here in SE Michigan. An entire months worth in one night, and most we've seen since 1925. Rivers were flooded, storm sewers were backed up, and bunch of streets were closed. I of course had no idea it was going to rain that hard for that long or I would have stayed home. Went to the gym and it poured the entire time I was inside. By the time I left, I pulled out of the parking lot directly into a flooded lane. Of course I could see it had standing water in it so I pulled out super slow (like idle speed, no throttle) but I didn't know how deep it was. Splashed water right up on my hood. Car immediately started running rough so I pulled it over and it stalled. Good thing I wasn't on the gas at all. Since it did that instead of immediately shutting off/locking up I doubt it was hydro-locked. Probably just wet filter/MAF which threw off the air reading and AFR. Let it sit for a few minutes with the ignition on/engine off to dry the MAF and it restarted. Just ran a little rough. Made it through the intersection and it was flooded on the other side too! Was creeping through it, but A-holes in the other lane were going fast making wakes that splashed up on my filter and made me stall again. Got it started though again and kept going. Had to dodge several intersections with a bunch of stalled/stranded cars in them and turn around several times. Normal 10 minute drive took 45 minutes. Got to take the filter off now and see if it's still wet... but it's focking raining outside again! ![]()

Well my car is sitting in the middle of the garage with the guys of the rear end out. Was a huge pain in the ass to get the c-clips out that hold the axels in. Was and even pain in the ass to get the bearings off the limited differential. Took a solid 2 hours just to get 3 bearings off. But I got the new bearing pressed in, on both the diff and pinion. Just have to re install th and replace the axle bearings and make sure it's lined properly. But it was late last night and would finish today, but was called to work so my car still sits scattered across my garage.

Hit the dyno the other day and had it tuned, I am overall happy with the numbers it is putting down. Next mod will be a 102mm TB and 3.91 gears. (Currently the vehicle has 3.27's)

People said the same with headlights retrofits. It'd be fun they said. For my first time was a pain in the ass. But I'm sure just like how mine ended up, the performance in the gears will be worth it.

Oh it will be. Found some really ugly **** that I don't like to see under the car. I'll have to take some pictures of what I'm talking about. Most of them are nothing, but one is a pretty big issue and might explain some issues the car has had.

Yep. It was pretty bad. I guess I have to say... it's not all that bad not having any problems running a CAI until the day we get more rain than we've had in 89 years.

Yeah i wouldn't really chalk the CAI as a bad thing. Like you said, its not every day you get a record rainfall like that. I've run mine for a few years now with no issues, even with what i would of called heavy rain. As long as it is protected by splash guards, and in my case, a homemade shield, you shouldn't have any issues.
The rainfall in the Detroit area looks about as bad as it was a few years back when in Middle Tennessee. Practically flooded the whole downtown area along the river there. And of course me, still in the military at the time, still had drill. What BS.

I know some people complained that removing the grill inserts allowed their engine bay to get quite dirty, but I do agree they look better now. I love the XXL Flat grills from Customcargrills. Cleans up the front and they are pretty durable. I'm hoping they will also better protect my intercooler from road debris without sacrificing air flow.

My engine compartment gets so dirty since my fans are tuned to be on 24/7 basically. So much dust under the hood. To hard to keep clean so I dont bother with detailing it.
