That brings back memories... very similar to my first two cars. An '85 Pontiac 6000 LE with the 2.8 V6 and an '84 Pontiac 6000 SE with the fuel injected four. Drove those around for 3-4 years.

I really like the 6000s. Especially the 6000 STE which I think was awd. Those old cars were pretty neat to me.

My mom had a pontiac 6000. Talk about a horrendously slow car. I still remember my brother getting a ticket for speeding (~87mph) going up hill from a stoplight. He and my mom both fought the ticket saying there was no possible way it would go that fast . She even told them to try it. He ended up getting out of it. Nevertheless, I doubt it was awd and more than likely the base model.

Yeah, I installed a CAI on an Accord for someone once... had to remove the entire front bumper to do it. Some of the newer cars and/or cars that have better fit and finish to them... the downside is they are harder to work on or have more stuff you have to take off. Especially BMW! Their engine bays are soooo tight you have to take off 4 things to fix 1 thing.

Lets not forget. BMW is 98.99% plastic under the hood.
Thats one thing i hate about most cars now, less motor, more covers. I want to see that engine! Not plastic.

I worked on a E92 335i also with the N54 3.0L twin turbo engine. Changed the downpipes and intercooler for someone. Man that job was a bitch! Had to remove all kinds of shields, undo the sway bar end links, and unbolt the steering rack and move it forward, just to have room to get hands and tools in to reach the DP clamps at the turbos. They were high quality parts, but a pita to work on. Tiny turbos too.

Yeah, they make everything a pain in the ass on a bmw, thats why they are pricey maintenance wise, it has to be worth it to work on them. Haha

However I wouldn't want to own a 2006-2007 e92 335 as those years tend to have turbo failures often. When I got my car, I got a late model e46, I bought a 2005 330CI ZHP. They made the e46 from 1998-2006 and so I went with a later year model to avoid problems. My car has been very reliable and I really enjoy it, however, not everyone likes premium car brands and that's understandable.

It has become very common. Altimas and STS Cads are two more examples. I harbor a personal suspicion any vehicle with an available HID lighting system is purposely constructed to require daunting disassembly to access the forward lighting -- the intent being to discourage the owner from accessing potentially dangerous voltages.
