Wash the car today. Used ONR for the first time and it worked well. Of course once I started moving all the water seeped out of the creases and the car has water spots all over it.
Side note, I'm worried about a upcoming spun rod bearing. Oil pressure is low at hot idle and I'm starting to get nervous. I'll be changing the oil this weekend and we'll see what I find. Sun came up as I started to drive the car so I couldn't get any good pics, but here's a few shots. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Whats your oil pressure at? Should be 35-40 on those i believe at idle. Mine sits at 29-34 at idle and 55-62 at WOT.
Funny thing is, GM says that anything 7psi and higher is okay... Lmao

On a side note, i put new lower control arms (MOOG) and sway bar end links (movitech) on the black car.

Warm idle: ~30psi Hot idle: ~ 18psi I saw that 7psi rating, but now that i've seen below 20 at hot, I'm starting to get worried. Might have my tax return going to more car parts than i anticipated ![]() |

My hot idle is around 18-22psi I believe. That's sitting still at a light with tranny in drive. Coasting down the road, usually stays 25psi or over. This is with a fairly new engine build and new oil pump, all new bearings, etc.
I'd send the oil out for a lab test, but if they don't find any odd metal levels, then I wouldn't worry about it. Especially if they say those are normal ranges for that engine and the oil you use.

Yup, you can do that sam! Also, are you using an aftermarket gauge? Or stock one on gauge cluster?
And thats interesting Aaron, my car at idle when at running temp is what i mentioned above (29-34)

I've seen to put a mechanical gauge on it to see if it changes. But the sending unit is way on the back of the block and bitch to get to. but I might have to try it. Found an AMS oil kit that will do testing. But not sure if I should.

Yeah, I use blackstone labs also. I've mentioned them several times on here for my engine stuff. They are very good, and give you good background info and they point out possible problems with the analysis results they send you.
If you had a spun rod bearing, it would def be obvious as Mark said. Would be making a very noticeable knocking that would change speed with RPM. Sleepy; I'd be inclined to say your gauge is not reading properly, because that is actually much higher than what the factory manual says it should be at idle when warm. Those are the kind of pressures I see when my engine is cold.

My gauge is AEM, and has read the same pressure with 3 different gauge brands.

My gauge is autometer and reads right where the factory manual says I should be, so...

Eh, ive come across a few cars that read differently then mine and yours. Guess every car is different, but i doubt my aem gauge is off.
Also, as she sits currently... ![]()
