sad but true and another sad fact my outback is worth more than an alero of the same year with the same miles..all be it i have a 3.0 H6 that makes more power than an engine with bigger displacement..oh yeah and another fun fact i don't have to keep ripping apart my engine to replace intake gaskets..seriously all i have to do is keep clean oil in it and it will go at least 400k if not more.. i'd have to do some forum digging but there are a few people who have mile mile H6's.

Hey. Does anyone know the thread size of the top studs on our rear struts? So I install this retarded rear strut brace that I've had for ever. Thanks.
I tried 5/16th 24 and 18

I took mine off and set the bar down, and reinstalled the nuts!
Way to go guys, 3 years later you're telling me I did it wrong? TOO LATE!

For one there is only one nut per side in the trunk. The other two are mounted in the wheel well. The brace takes two nuts per side. So no matter what I need two more nuts at least. Second if I remove the existing nuts to mount the brace I will need some kind of spacer or a stack of washers to get to the same height as the stud that doesn't sit flush. That part isn't a big deal, I could do that, but either way I still need at least two more nuts. I'll get it figured out though. Thanks guys.

^Yep. There are two bolts that go thru from the bottom (inside the wheel well). One stud on the mount goes up thru and there is a nut that goes on top (inside the trunk). Either way, the threads for all three stick up thru the sheet metal inside the trunk. All you need to do to mount a STB is put it over those bolts and put three 10mm nuts on top of the STB bracket. I put a couple large washers underneath my bracket to keep it sitting flat (you'll see what I mean if you look at it).
