Mmmm, no.... not really. Most tracks don't give a crap. And they don't require a fuel shut off either. It's normally a battery shut off they require, only if your battery is moved to the trunk. However this only works on purpose built race cars with a trunk mounted battery and no alternator, which only run off the battery. On our cars, if you disconnect the battery the car will still continue to run off the alternator, so the battery disconnect doesn't do squat.

Been paid off, I recently got the title from the bank without the lien on it. Basically, it's easier to get rid of now.

http://www.jegs.com/i/Moroso/710/74102/10002/-1 It will probably idle for a few more seconds if you cut the fuel pump, if you have it tested for NHRA, it has to cut everything off at once. And it has to be fire-resistant, no plastic parts that easily melt. And yeah, most tracks don't check how it's wired, but if you are new and think you have a chance to win an event, might as well have it installed. Mine is hot wired for the street, but the lever is easily removed. None of them are fail-safe, I think there is always some scenario where the switch won't shut it off in a wreck, or you can't reach the switch.

I know it is a electrical cut off, but one of It's main purposes is to cut fuel supply along with kill the engine. |

Still not needed for street cars running at the drag strip. It's pointless, and it would be idiotic to run power from the alternator all the way back to the back of the car too. Do you have any idea how much voltage loss that would cause?!

I agree not needed on the street, but he does go to the track, so its not a bad idea either.
With a stock 105 amp alternator, 4AWG wire and lets say 12 VDC even though it puts out about 13.5-14.5, you will see a little over 5% drop. If that makes you uncomfortable, just increase your wire size and voltage drop will be minimal. |

But if you don't need to register for a certain class at the particular track, I wouldn't worry about it the first time out.
