hub removal tool

I got a loaner hub puller from advance auto parts today. It it is made by powerbuilt and the model number is 648608. It calls the three prong puller as FWD 3.7x4.5". However, I do not think this is the right one that I need. It doesn't want to fit over the 3 lug nuts without hammering it on. Also, the bolt that pushes the drive axle out is not 100% centered.

I saw in another thread that someone rented 1 from autozone. It was listed as 3.75 as opposed to 3.7. Do I have the wrong puller?

I've never needed a puller to get a hub off. I just use a big hammer.

QFT Even at work I very rarely use a puller.

Just dont want to mess anything up. I beat on it a little with a hammer with no luck. I have 210k miles on the original hubs and my car is 13 years old now.
