Those are Grand Prix basket weave wheels. They're very lightweight.

Talked to one of the techs at work. He said it sounds more like just a torque converter. Not anything physically inside the trans.

They're not that light. Those are what I had on my '97 GP and they seemed pretty heavy to me. I never weighed them, but they were surely heavier than my 17's.
