New to the forums

Hey fellas,

New to the forums here. Picked up a 98' Grand Am GT Coupe back in 2011. Been browsing the forum here for awhile for ideas / guides on to fix some issues with the Grand Dauuummss. Figured I would finally quit being shy and register , anyways..

Here is my stock car. Looking forward to be apart of this community

Nice. That looks in VERY good shape for a '98. Someone took good care of that car! Welcome to the forum.

Thanks Aaron, yes... Some old lady used it as her daily drive. Only 128,000 miles on it I kinda wish I had the new body style that the 99+ do, but I guess its alil exclusive as I don't see many 98's on the road.

Yes locoman, I recently moved from Chicago to Fort Collins, CO. You know, it had some stock racing stripes on them when I first got it and after about 5 hours and half a bottle of Goo gone. They were.... gone. I wanna keep this baby stock, maybe get the rims painted gloss black with a red ring. I dunno, I'm still thinking.

There's some potential. I know some 4th gen guys have even swapped in whole LA1 motors (the 3.4L OHV V6 from the 5th gen GAGT, and various GM models from 1999-2005) and even the LX9 will work (3.5L OHV V6 from the Pontiac G6, and various GM models from 2004-2006)

The LA1 and LX9 have lots of goodies to install from WOT-Tech.com

It can still be done on a budget, just have to save up. First mods I'd do are CAI and exhaust.

CAI = Cold air intake? As far as the exhaust, do you have any suggestions/websites?

CAI, yep, you got it. eBay sells many ones for nice prices.

Exhaust, that's up to what you want. I suggest running a high flow resonator/glasspack, and 4th gens have two mufflers out back, Magnaflow and Flowmaster sound nice with a proper resonator. Stock piping I believe is 2" diameter. 2.25" is a nice size upgrade for a stock motor.
