Questions you think are too stupid to ask

Basically, this thread is going to be a catch-all for any and all questions you may have that is Grand Am related. No question will be deemed too "stupid", nobody will be told to "search", and hopefully, no question will be ignored.

For the newbies, PLEASE use this as your place to ask very general/common questions (what headlight bulb size is needed, what year did they stop making GA's, etc.) You may ask just about any question you want without fear of response from us veterans.

For the veterans.... this is the place where we ALL will play nice. If someone asks one of the questions we've heard 1000 times before... so what? This is where they're allowed to do it. Responses should be helpful and informative- either answering the question or providing a link that has the answer. All of us were there at some point, so let's pay it forward.

Fire away!

Knew that was coming, didn't expect it from you.

Short answer- yes, you COULD... but it is far from a direct swap. Many, MANY components of the car would need to be changed out, and a lot of custom fabrication is needed... not to mention custom tuning. Far more cost effective to build the 3400 or either of the 4-bangers to the same power levels.

Such is life. Most people think the GA and the GP are pretty much the same car with the same motors, and they also assume the GA motors are worthless (I'll let a debate on the effectiveness of the 3400/2.2/2.4 rage in another thread).

Of course I did. But, the spirit of this thread is to answer all questions, no matter how simple, to the best of our abilities. I'll leave side comments to other threads.

you should have made the title "OFFICIAL: Questions you think are to stupid to ask"

but either way it works, i bet this thread will get out of hand on most questions.

almost any thread does these days on here hahaha

yes there is a 3.4 in the v6 camaros, little different from our 3400s

also: anyone thinking about the 3800 swaps in alero/grand ams, its really not worth the effort.

3.4 is a DOHC put in Z34 Monte Carlos, Camaros, older GP GTPs, and probably more... totally different motor than the 3400.

tuned right, it can handle quite a bit of power, MMGT1 can vouch on that.

the 3.4 DOHC and the 3.4 in the f body's are different. the f body has an iron head and is pretty useless when it comes to performance builds with this and the f body platform

I did realize the 3.4 DOHC was a completely different engine, I was curious if anyone had tried or thought it would work to swap into the grand am?

As with the 3800 With enough money, A Big Fu@king Hammer, cutting torch, and wielder any swap is possible. But the usability and power available anyone think it would be worthwhile?
