me too, but if it is it surprises me. its in a 2000 gt1 just like mine, but its production number is way after mine, did they do a mid year change or something?

No. THe change came in 2003 when they went from 1.5 din to 2 din. That radio is a 1.5 din. 2 din will not fit in your car without some modification.

Nope, that's a 1.5 DIN. You can see the tape deck at the bottom. The double DIN came out later (2003). There was no tape deck option, as the A/C controls were down at the bottom to make room. I think the cigarette lighter moved too.

Thanks, I didn't even notice the tape deck, I don't recall my car even having a tape deck stuck under the hvac controls.

yeah, I wasn't sure if it came out with the monsoon system in 01 or if it was later. Been a while since I looked at one.

that's why i didn't chime in. mine was the monsoon, 01, and 2 din.... but i didn't know if the non monsoon was different size, although it wouldn't have made sense for it to be.

My 02 SE had the monsoon stock set up (cd & cassette) it eventually wouldn't read any discs. In this day and age I wanted something more then stock. But be prepared....replacing stock or going after market costs $$$$ even to replace stock.....the dealership has to flash your replacement deck to match your vin so it works.

Aftermarket forced me to purchase a $100 modulator. Without it....you can't use the stock speakers, amp, tweeters, or even retain the door chimes. The modulator retains all stock features. Got mine from cruthchfield. Had some fun with it. In dash touch screen with GPS, wifi, movies, tunes,Bluetooth for phone.....does everything but make toast!! My kid gets a kick out of the seat mounted display for him in the back seat as well

Good luck!!

Wow, I was right before I changed my answer to 1.5 DIN. In my defense, my GAGT has been loaned out to a friend for the past 6 months so I haven't really played with it for a while...

Yea, my monsoon was a cd/cassette. good times. every couple months, the kids would forget what it was, and i'd have to go BACK over what that big hole was in the bottom of the deck

If you want to replace the deck with something factory, the Grand Prix Bose decks are plug and play and there are lots of them in junkyards. For some reason when I hooked up the Bose head unit the sound output was much greater than the 7 band EQ one and the steering wheel controls still work too!
